So on Sunday, Ronald took the kids under his wing so that I could venture off to the mall all by myself! I was so excited. No worries about packing up the diaper bag, packing up the car, packing up the stroller. No diapers to change, no bottles to give, no toddler to chase after. Yes! Totally needed some alone time. Not quite alone time when you're shopping in a crowded mall full of people who are holiday shopping. But still. I was all by myself! I ended up hanging out in the mall for three and a half hours. I know, I know. Some of you might be asking, what in the world is there to do in a mall for that long? Let me break it down for you:
- First stop, Frulatti Cafe & Bakery for a pinapple mango smoothie. Yum!
- Went to H&M to see if I could find anything cute for the kids. No luck.
- Headed over to Urban Outfitters having been inspired by Heidi Swapp's pink Chirstmas tree forest.
- Next stop, Forth & Towne, a new store by Gap Inc. Can I just say that I had the most wonderful customer service experience there EVER? I saw a black wool coat that was beautiful. Went to the fitting room to try it on. The two gals working the rooms were so friendly, so helpful and acommodating. It was awesome. I have that coat on my wish list for Christmas. Yes, Ronald knows and the coat is on hold until Wednesday. Ha! I've been looking for the perfect wool coat for years. The black wool coat that I currently wear (it's my dressy winter coat) is ten years old. I still get compliments on it when I wear it. It was a present from my mom. She got it from Casual Corner. Sadly, the lining is all ripped up because I squeezed myself into it during both my pregnancies! Even if Santa gives me the Forth & Towne coat, I think I will still hang on to my old one. Call me sentimental.
- Sephora. Had a gift card that needed spending! (Thanks Mike & Ria!) I ended up getting my make up done by a really cool girl who was working the Too Faced cosmetics section. Now I'm more of a Bobbi Brown and Bare Escentuals type of girl and had not even known that Too Face cosmetics existed, but whatever. The Too Faced girl spent about 45 minutes chatting with me and doing my makeup. It was fun! I ended up getting some fun shimmery eyeshadow and base. Would've bought more, but they were out of stock of the other products I wanted. I spent the most time at Sephora. Love that store! I want to be a make-up artist in my next life. ;o)
- Headed over to Anthropologie next. How could I not? That store is too beautiful for words. Seriously though, I picked up a little sumpin, sumpin for a few of my best girlfriends. :o)
- Last stop, Fossil. I don't really shop there since I stopped wearing watches years back and I always equate Fossil to just watches. However, it was physically the last store on my way out and their window display of cool graphic tees piqued my curiosity. I ended up purchasing a really cute tee that was on sale. Had no idea that Fossil sold apparel. Will have to go back again.
On my way home from the mall, I had dinner all by my lonesome at Noodles. Their Penne Rosa pasta is my favorite! After dinner I contemplated whether or not I should stop by the bookstore for more alone time, but honestly. I missed my kids! Hey, what can I say? So I went home. It was a very, very good time, just me, myself and I. :o)
