Cooing, clearances and cooking

Guess who's five weeks old today. Little guy cooed at me for the first time yesterday while I was singing to him.  Awwwwww...

This past weekend I started shopping for Clark's birthday which we are celebrating this Friday. Our soon-to-be two year old is BIG TIME into Bob the Builder. First stop: party store. Can you believe that everything Bob the Builder at Party City was just $1 each? I was one super-excited crazed shopper, rummaging through the clearance boxes.  Next stop: Toys R Us in search of this workbench for the birthday boy. No luck, but I did however score on this playset that was originally $19.99, on sale for $6.40. I paid less than four dollars for it since I had a coupon! I'm using the figurines as cake toppers.

Still trying to figure out what to do for the cake. I'm not so sure that I'm brave enough to make one myself. I'm more of the cook in our kitchen, and Ronald is the baker. Which reminds me, I will have to post sometime about my culinary adventures.

Two in two weeks

In less than two week Clarkie boy will be two years old. He's such a character. Ronald and I totally agree that our boy is definitely class clown material. Heaven help his future teachers, heehee! A few things I want to remember about our Clarkie boy . . . He won't go to sleep without his three loves - his binky, his blankie (an old pink turtleneck of mine) and his stuffed monkey.  His best friend is Papa (my dad). He gets into a lot of mischief particularly when he's hanging out with Cousin Jakey. He likes to copy his Ate Cadence. The boy loves to eat and eat and eat and he inhales his food at mealtime.  Seriously. He's been telling us when he goes potty in his diaper. He is espcially fond of Bob the Builder, Kipper and Blue's Clues. He sings and hums ALL the time, and in tune.  Songs he always sings/hums are the ABC song, Happy Birthday to You and "Please Come Here to Me" (a song he learned in Sabbath School). He rolls his eyes at us if he's being scolded or being told not to do something. Total character, our Clarkie boy.

One month old

Two posts in one day.  Gasp!  But I couldn't not post about my Rocket boy turning one month old today. *Sniff, sniff, sob.*  Four weeks went by way too fast.  Ronald took this photo of the two of us yesterday.  I love it because I never took pregnancy photos with Rocket and I'm feeling quite guilty about that.  This picture almost (kinda, not really, but oh well) makes up for that.

Hello Good Buy

Who doesn't love Target? Cadence loves to sing their commercial jingle "hello good buy" - I tell you, so clever those advertising people. Well, I totally made a good buy there this past weekend. I've had my eye on this twenty inch wooden clock for months now, waiting ever so patiently for it to go on sale. It was finally marked down to thirty bucks last week! Ronald and I had to go to five different Targets in order to find one. It was worth it though. Now I just have to get my office in order so I can put this baby up on my wall.  Happy week!

My boys

Clarkie wasn't so keen on his new baby brother when he first met him at the hospital. Clark took one look at him, rolled his eyes and then proceeded to ignore Rocket while he ran around (quite naughtily, I might add) our hospital room.  Since then, Clarkie has certainly warmed up to Rocket and is always trying to pat his head, squeeze his arms, thump his back and leave wet kisses on his cheek.  Clark's affections towards Rocket are quite rough so we're always on guard whenever he's near the baby.  What do you expect from an almost two year old boy? It will be so much fun to see how Rocket's personality matches up to his big brother.

One week old

My sweet Rocket boy, one week old in these photos.  Can you believe he'll be three weeks old on Monday?  This is my third kid and I'm still looking for the button to make time slow down.  Sigh . . . Rocket has definitely inherited his daddy's toes - big toes separated from the rest of the bunch.  Cadence's toes are like this too.  Makes me laugh.  Love the swaddling phase.  Rocket boy sleeps best all swaddled up.  He's such a good baby, sleeping 5-6 hour stretches through the night already.  Here's to hoping that it lasts!
