Despite the fact that I had planned on doing most of my holiday shopping online, my sister and I braved the masses on Black Friday. We were up before the sun came out. I still can't believe we got up at four in the morning to shop at Kohls. I went there for slipper socks that were on sale for five bucks. I ended up not liking them and instead left with an armful of other things. Oops. We stood in line for almost an hour to check out. Craziness. Our next stop was Target. We waited in line for twenty minutes in thirty degree weather before the store opened. We were there for one thing - Cadence's Christmas gift. As soon as we got into the store, Aimee RAN to the toy section. I couldn't even keep up with her probably because I was busy laughing so hard at the fact that we were running in the aisles of Target. I ended up with the last box. HUGE thanks to the ladies who were nice enough to give it up to me. I must admit, tears were involved and that's all I have to say about that. Haha. We left Target at exactly 6:15 with a ton of people swarming around in the toy and electronics sections. Crazy, I tell you. Next stop, Old Navy. So I ended up with more things for me than gifts for other people. But hey, it was my birthday month after all. And as if we hadn't had enough of the craziness that we left behind at Kohls - we went back. It wasn't as much as a madhouse as it had been earlier in the morning, but still crazy nonetheless. I ended up leaving with almost three times as much as I had purchased earlier that morning. Again, oops. Last stop was an unplanned visit to The Children's Place where I scored a snowsuit for Rocket (badly needed as it has been really cold around here) on sale plus another 20% off for earlybird shoppers. We got home to my sister's house (we had spent the night there) by ten thirty and plenty of time to play Dancing With the Stars on Wii before lunchtime. Yes, crazy day but so much fun! So glad my that I got to spend it with my sister who was of all things celebrating her 31st birthday on Black Friday.
So Miss Cadence graduated to a booster seat this weekend. We got her this seat in pink and gray and had to drive into the city to buy it because the locations closer to us were sold out. Rocket has inherited her convertible seat. Poor thing barely fit in his infant seat. He has grown so fast in nine short months. He's going to be a lot more comfortable in his Ate Cadence's old seat.
We're still in the process of decorating our house for the holidays. I picked up some new ornaments for the tree over the weekend. This one for Cadence, this one for Clarkie, this and this for Rocket, this for Ronald and my sister got me this one. I love Hallmark ornaments. Probably because I worked for two different Hallmark stores way back when for a total of almost six years.
Hope your holiday season is off to a great start! Happy week. :o)
